FAQ

New to raising Chickens

  1. I am a City Slicker living in Dade City and would like to rasie some chickens...nothing fancy just a few chickens for some fresh eggs. I know nothing about raising chickens but am anxious to learn. Any help would be appreciated.

I did a lot of research before I got my birds. Also you should check and see if there are any laws or restrictions on raising birds where you live. Some areas do not allow roosters. I don't know how many birds you are thinking about getting and if you plan on starting out with chicks or point of laying pullets.

Gail Damerow's 'Storey's Guide to Chickens' is an excellent resource, as well as these web sites which are also excellent sources of information.
